Correia Jazz Band and Brian Lynch

Brian Lynch came to Correia to jam with our jazz band. Here's a quick clip of them playing Blue Moon. Several of the members in our jazz band are students of mine. Props to you guys! You sounded amazing today!

Correia Jazz Band

Here's one of my students (another one of mine to his left - oh, and another standing far right) just before their performance.

Environmental Sensor Workshop

At UCSD for a work shop using vernier sensors by LabQuest. Nice group of teachers are here who have been working together using these sensors for the past year. They are looking for another group of teachers to join the group for the upcoming year. The sensors are great and have endless possibilities for data collection in the classroom or in the field.

Pinniped Fun Zone!

We're at La Jolla cove with Andrew after having breakfast at The Coffee Cup. Nice day!

The Old Globe

Andrew has been in town working on a theatre production at The Old Globe in Balboa Park. He invited us to come and see the dress rehearsal.

State Testing!

We've been testing for 6 days now. Morning tests and modified schedules for the rest of the day. The kids seem to like the schedule and especially having no homework on testing nights.

Boating Season is Now

The weather is here! The boat is in the water and its time for ocean play. The beaches were packed today and there's lots of activity in the harbor. Can't believe its only April.

Ozeni MoBlogging

I've been helping my buddy teacher, Go Ozeni, setting up his moblog. He wants to be able to moblog with a group of students during this year's 8th Grade East Coast Trip. I'll RSS feed his blog here when the trip happens. Ozeni had some issues with his Sprint service. Their txt/pic messaging annoyingly posts a hideous html page with every pic message. He even upgraded his phone and plan to prepare for the trip, just to discover Sprint's annoying surprise. I think he's considering leaving Sprint simply because every message sent to his blog would be littered with self-promoting banners and other useless page-garbage. This pic was originally a test send to his blog to compare Sprint and Verizon txt/pic/video messaging.

Boating Time is Here!

Spring cleaning for Dave's boat! Mostly engine maintenance work, she's ready for the ocean. I've got to have my SCUBA regs serviced since diving season is here.

Doug is finishing tinting my rear window. The repair facility broke my rear window while fixing the dent in the tailgate. Doug's a friend and always does a perfect job.

Cancer Discussion Group

Jared is a local youth leader who shared his cancer story with us. He is truly a great speaker and he really connected to students.

Cancer Speakers

Our class is currently researching cancer for science. Today we invited friends and family who have been affected by cancer. Students had the opportunity to listen to three of the eleven speakers tell their cancer story.

Our Homemade Sushi Rolls

We just finished cutting all of our rolls. We tried making a pro roll with only rice but it doesn't look resturaunt quality. Other rolls look pro though! Ok, time to eat!

Mitsuwa Market

Michelle's lab colleague, Aki, is taking us to the Japanese market to shop for everything we need to make sushi for dinner tonight. I also picked up some good treats to take to school. Aki will help us make our own sushi the evening.
